Three festivals are now running earlier in the year - the Science Festival which attempts to shed light on everything from outer space to the inner workings if your mind runs from (25th March – 6th April).

The Children's Festival is a family friendly event running from the 24th May – 2nd June. Local and international acts and groups present a wide range of performing arts events that entertain, enthral and inspire.

Going for more than 60 years, the international film festival is the world's longest running annual film festival (18th - 29th June). This year, stars Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller are expected to join director John Maybury on the red carpet for the Opening Night Gala of EIFF 2008. The Edge of Love, the eagerly anticipated film based on poet Dylan Thomas' love life will be the Opening Night Gala on Wednesday 18 June.
